Woman, 86, dies in Hayward traffic collision

HAYWARD — An 86-year-old woman died Thursday after the vehicle she was driving collided with another vehicle, authorities said.

She was identified by the coroner’s office as Julia Severino of Hayward.

The collision happened about 5:05 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Industrial Boulevard and Baumberg Avenue.

Severino was the only occupant of her vehicle and was found unconscious with multiple injuries inside the vehicle, authorities said. She was taken to a hospital, where she died.

A 54-year-old man who was the sole occupant of the other vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators. He had complaints of pain, police said, but it was not immediately known if he required medical treatment.
