Two arrested for murder of 14-year-old boy 48 hours later

Two suspects were arrested in the murder of a 14-year-old boy in Eersterust on Sunday evening.

According to Sam Shibambo of the Eersterust police, they were summoned to a shooting incident on Floksie Road on Friday.

Upon arrival, the police found a dead 14-year-old boy with a bullet wound to his head.

“A preliminary investigation was conducted and the description of the suspects involved in the murder was established.

“A manhunt was immediately launched for the alleged murderers and less than 48 hours later, the duo were nabbed for the alleged murder,” said Shibambo.

The Eersterust SAPS acting station commander, Captain Malose Alpheus Boshiana thanked the investigating team for their good work.

Boshiana further emphasised that murders of innocent children cannot be tolerated.

He asked the investigating team to send a stern warning through the swift arrest of the two suspects.

Police statistics show that there has been an increase in violent crime in Eersterust over the past six months.

Residents were urged to be vigilant at all times and report any criminal activities to the Eersterust police.
