Truck Crashes, Catches Fire In Anambra

An articulated lorry loaded with foreign woods has caught fire in Anambra.

The truck went up in flames on Sunday along Enugu-Onitsha expressway, Anambra State.

The incident, which occurred at about 2.29pm, around Enugu-Agidi junction, was caused by loss of control of the truck driver which led to crash.

The Nation gathered that although no life was lost in the crash, but the lorry and large portions of its contents were destroyed by the inferno.

State Fire Chief, Engr Martin Agbili confirmed the incident, saying the fire was brought under control by his men who arrived the scene shortly.

He said: “At about 1429hrs (2.29pm) of today Sunday 19-03-2023, Anambra State Fire Service, received a distress call of fire outbreak at Enugu-Agidi junction opposite Zim Zam Hotel along Enugu-Onitsha Expressway on a 911 lorry carrying foreign woods.

“Immediately, we deployed our fire truck and firefighters to fire scene for the proper fire fighting operation.

“The fire emanated during a road crash as the driver of the lorry lost control of his steering.

“There was no lost of life during the road crash and fire outbreak.”
