The Cure’s lead singer, Robert Smith, has taken issue with Ticketmaster and its excessive concert fees.
After Ticketmaster received a lot of criticism for the high price of their concert fees, Smith took to Twitter to share an update with his fans, expressing his displeasure with the company.
“I’m just as disgusted as you all by today’s Ticketmaster fee debacle. To put it bluntly: the artist has no way of limiting them. I asked how they are justified. If I get anything coherent in response, I’ll let you all know. X,” Smith said in a tweet on Wednesday.

The British rock band’s comments follow outspoken fans who address their concerns about high fees amid low ticket prices for The Cure’s North American tour.
Fans have broken down the cost on social media and shared screenshots of their ticket transaction. What was supposed to be a $20 band ticket resulted in the price nearly doubling with unfamiliar fees including a service fee, setup fee, and order processing fee.
“So @thecure and @RobertSmith wanted to keep ticket prices reasonable for fans on their upcoming North American tour dates. Of course, @Ticketmaster washed them up with ridiculous additional costs…” A fan tweeted.
“wtf is there even a service fee or setup fee or processing fee??”
The 63-year-old singer revealed that his decision to work with Ticketmaster was to avoid Ticket scalpers.
Smith announced he has teamed up with Ticketmaster to cut concert costs and promises fans a partial refund.

“1 of 2: After further discussions, Ticketmaster has agreed with us that many of the fees they are charging are unreasonably high and, as a gesture of goodwill, have offered all verified fan accounts a $10 refund per ticket for the lowest ticket price (‘ltp’) transactions. ..” he said in a tweet on Thursday.
“2 of 2: …and a $5 refund per ticket to all verified fan accounts for all other ticket price transactions, for all Cure shows at all venues; if you have already purchased a ticket you will receive an automatic refund; all tickets at Lower fees apply for tomorrow’s sale.”
The following day, the “Lullaby” singer continued to explain to fans the issues they may have faced when purchasing The Cure concert tickets.
“1 of 2: This morning 6 shows were activated early for face value exchanges before face price restrictions were implemented. The problem was fixed immediately. However, about 900 tickets were bought over face value…” Smith pointed out.
“2 out of 2: All of these buyers are being contacted and will automatically receive a face value refund,” he assured.
ticketmaster Also, fans were informed about the refund and explained that they are working with The Cure to solve the high ticket costs.
“This was on our radar earlier this morning and has already been resolved – refunds to fans are ongoing for any cost over the original ticket price Marketplace,” Ticketmaster wrote on Twitter.
The Cure is scheduled to begin their tour in New Orleans on May 10th and conclude in Miami on July 1st.

The Ticketmaster debacle stems from other well-known artists also having problems with the ticket distribution company.

Last November, Ticketmaster canceled a scheduled sale of tickets to the public for Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour after its system was overwhelmed by demand during a two-day presale event, leaving insufficient inventory for additional sales.

A group of Swift fans filed a lawsuit against Ticketmaster and its parent company Live Nation after the company put concert tickets for Swift’s upcoming tour up for sale.
Ticketmaster did not immediately respond to FOX Business’s request for comment.
