Steven Knight Replaces Damon Lindelof & Justin Britt-Gibson

Variety reports that Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has signed on to write the new Star Wars movie from Academy Award winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, replacing Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson.

Steven Knight is a British screenwriter and director known for his work on popular TV shows such as Peaky Blinders, Taboo, and See. He has also written screenplays for several films, including Dirty Pretty Things, Eastern Promises and Locke. Knight’s work often explores complex characters and themes of morality, justice and survival.

Fortunately, Star Wars Celebration is just around the corner, and fans can expect to learn more about the Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy project at the event. The annual convention, which is scheduled to take place this April, is a celebration of all things Star Wars, and it’s the perfect platform for Lucasfilm to unveil new projects for the big screen and the Disney Plus streaming service.

What went wrong with the upcoming Star Wars movie?

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Star Wars movie does not yet have a release date, but Lucasfilm is hoping to release the project in 2025. It’s possible that the departure of Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson could cause delays or result in significant changes to the script. However, with Obaid-Chinoy still involved, it’s clear that the project is still a priority for Lucasfilm.

The latest Star Wars departure has left many wondering what could have gone wrong behind-the-scenes. Some speculate that creative differences or scheduling conflicts may have played a role while others are simply left to wonder. Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson have yet to comment on the matter.

The recipient of two Oscars, seven Emmys and a Knight International Journalism Award, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is best known for her work on the documentary shorts Saving Face and A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness. She recently directed two episodes of the Disney Plus series Ms. Marvel starring Iman Vellani.
