Parkway kicker Aeron Burrell picks up LSU football bid

Parkway-kicking phenom Aeron Burrell continues to add to his bid list as word of his strong leg spreads down the recruiting lines.

The junior recently landed an LSU offer, which is rare for a kicker. Late last week, he got the call from John Jancek, the LSU special teams coach.

“It was great. I couldn’t find the words,” Burrell said.

The 6ft 3, 175lb Burrell also has offers from TCU, Houston, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana Lafayette, Grambling and Southern but has not yet decided when he will commit.

Burrell, a Shreveport Times All-City first-team kicker, drilled for touchbacks on 51 of his 52 kickoffs last season. He converted 8 of 10 field goals, with two covering 50 and 52 yards. He was good with 37 point-after tries to make the District 1-5A all-district team.

Burrell, who is considered the No. 1 kicker in the country by some services, has plans for the summer.

“Probably LSU and TCU will attend their specialist camps, and that’s it,” he said.
