A convicted child rapist in Louisiana has been sentenced to 35 years in prison and will be chemically castrated upon release.
Ryan Clark, 34, pleaded guilty March 1 to the felony of second-degree rape when the victim is prevented from resisting because of violence or threats, twice molesting a youth under the age of 13, and sexual assault.
The Tangipahoa Community Sheriff’s Office was notified on July 16, 2020 of a possible incident between “Clark and a youth by a person the victim confided in.”
According to 21st Circuit District Attorney Scott M. Perrilloux, the victim said the behavior had been occurring for more than a year.

When questioning the youth, a second victim was discovered, the public prosecutor said.
Clark was taken into custody on July 17, 2020 on charges of sexual assault and molestation of a minor.
Prior to his guilty plea, he was convicted of misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a youth for performing oral sex in a public place and spent 228 days in prison in 2021.
Perrilloux said Clark would serve a total of 35 years in the Louisiana Correctional Authority, with the first 25 years “to be served without benefits.”

After Clark is released from prison, he will have to undergo chemical castration, Perrilloux said, in addition to being registered as a sex offender and losing all parental rights.
According to FOX 8, chemical castration was legalized in Louisiana in 2008 when former Gov. Bobby Jindal signed legislation allowing the drug treatment of people convicted of some crimes, such as molestation of a juvenile, aggravated rape, violent rape, sexual Second-degree assault, aggravated incest, and felony crimes against nature.

Chemical castration is administered through injections of medroxyprogesterone acetate, which suppresses a man’s sex drive by lowering testosterone levels.
