A fast-casual health food restaurant in New Orleans plans to expand into downtown Fayetteville next year.
Dylan Maisel, founder and owner of The Daily Beet, said he plans to move to the area with his family in August and open the store in the spring of 2024. Construction of the ice house at 339 N. West Ave. Construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2023, Maisel told us in an email.
Maisel started the company, originally called JuiceNOLA, on a bicycle juice cart about seven years ago. The New Orleans store has since expanded to two brick-and-mortar locations, which Maisel said will remain in operation after the Fayetteville store opens.
Menus for the New Orleans locations include brunch and breakfast items like breakfast tacos and banana oatmeal pancakes, as well as salads, bowls, smoothies and cold-pressed juices, according to the company’s website.
“The Fayetteville location will be great. I feel like so many people are thinking more about their health and what goes into their bodies, and I look forward to making that easier for many people in the area,” he wrote. “It’s something that’s incredibly important to me as my parents always owned a vegan/vegetarian restaurant – so it’s a big part of my DNA.”

Pinky Swear, a new “hi-fi record bar” from Downtown Rogers’ heirloom in 1907, opened last week.
Guests can stop by the top of the 1907 building at 101 E. Walnut St. — the former home of the Foreman — to listen to stereo records and enjoy cocktails, natural wines, beer, soft drinks, and bar food from The Heirloom Kitchen Team.
The provisional opening hours of the new hangout are Wednesday and Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Reservation is not necessary.

Northwest Arkansas has had some restaurant news for the past few weeks. Here’s a sample:
Chuzo’s Sabor Latino recently opened at the College’s Fayetteville Yacht Club. The food truck specializes in meat kabobs — known as “chuzos” or “pinchos” in certain parts of Latin America — but also serves sandwiches and churros. It’s at 617 N. College Ave. Open from Monday to Thursday from 11 am to 3 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm and Friday and Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm and from 5 pm to 9 pm
Arsaga recently opened a new store in the University of Arkansas’ new Studio and Design Center. It is the coffee company’s sixth location in Fayetteville. Called Artsaga’s Café, it will be a collaboration with the School of Art and will offer students the opportunity to design and create the restaurant’s plates and cups, menus and more. It’s open to the public Monday through Thursday between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., according to a press release.
Mr Gatti’s Pizza, a Fort Worth-based pizza and gaming chain, plans to open stores in Bentonville, Fayetteville and Fort Smith, according to the company’s website. According to a press release, the company will expand over the next six years by establishing 17 new locations in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri. Mr. Gatti’s has more than 130 restaurants open or under development in 12 states, the release said.
Firebirds Wood Fired Grill will be part of the upcoming Whole Foods-anchored mixed-use development in Uptown Rogers. Firebirds, a “polished casual American restaurant” and an “energetic twist on the traditional grill,” has signed a lease for a space within what it calls the Pinnacle Springs development, according to a press release. The restaurant’s menu includes steaks and fried seafood. The development will be located at the northeast corner of Promenade Boulevard and New Hope Road.
