Lows will be in the high 20’s and low 30’s on the North Shore and low 30’s to low 40’s on the South Shore. As a result, a freeze warning has been issued for the Northshore, river communities and all of southern Mississippi. It comes into effect on Sunday at 10 p.m. and lasts until Monday at 10 a.m. A frost warning is in effect for parts of the south coast. Frost is possible elsewhere. Don’t forget to protect your delicate vegetation, bring your pets inside and check on people. The last frost the New Orleans area (MSY airport) ever experienced was April 8, 1971. The average last frost was February 10. The last frost at Slidell Airport was on April 9, 2000. The average last frost was March 3rd. In Hammond, the last frost was April 15, 2008. The average last frost was March 9 Temperatures will warm up after Monday. Tuesday morning will be cold, but not freezing, in the upper 30s to mid 40s. Highs will then climb towards 70 this afternoon. Then it’s back to the 70’s and 80’s for the rest of the week!
