Early in career (2012–2016)
Holmes and her partner Nathan Brown moved to Darwin in the Northern Territory in 2012 so Brown, who had previously played for West Adelaide and North Adelaide in the South Australian National Football League, could play in the Northern Territory Football League (NTFL). during summer. Brown had previously played for West Adelaide and North Adelaide in the SANFL (most Australian regular leagues are played in the winter). In Darwin, Holmes wanted to continue playing netball, but she also began playing soccer for Waratah Football Club in the Northern Territory Football League (NTFL) women’s tournament. AFLW career (2017–2018)
