NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Young patients at New Orleans Children’s Hospital had a magical surprise with Disney Cruise Line visitors.
On Friday (March 24), Captian Minnie Mouse, along with non-profit organization Starlight Children’s Foundation, unveiled her new mobile cinema and distributed themed toys, games and Starlight Hospital Wear.
The mobile theater is designed to bring joy and comfort to patients and their families during stressful times while enjoying Disney classics and new releases along with all the compliments of Disney+ and Disney Movie Moments.
Starlight Children’s Foundation CEO Adam Garone says they have been transforming children’s hospital experiences with Disney for over 20 years.
“Being in hospital can be stressful for children and their families. That’s why Disney Cruise Line is proud to be a part of this initiative to bring joy to children and families,” said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager, Disney Cruise Line. “We love sailing from the Port of New Orleans and look forward to strengthening our connection with this community. We welcome the opportunity to spread the magic of Disney here, especially when that magic can brighten the day of a child going through a difficult time.”
In addition to New Orleans, DCL delivers five mobile cinemas across the country:
- Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood, Fla
- Galveston, Texas
- San Diego, California
The collaboration aims to bring positive strength to patients and families as children progress through hospitalization and treatment. They also offer care packages that include Disney-style toys, games, and Starlight Hospital Wear.
