Check out Chok’s Choices for the races at the fairgrounds on Saturday 18th March

Picks for the fast lane and on turf.

race 1

4: Daphne’s Fire: Was pulled out of debut race; moves into a new barn and dresses Graham.

5: Mally’s Monsoon: Enters from Turfway; probably didn’t like the track; fits here.

race 2

6: Harold’s cloud: Has a win at this distance; took on tougher opponents in Arkansas: one the beat.

1: Ricky Bobby: Was disqualified from a win earlier in the meeting; today could bring that win back.

race 3

1: natural born transmitter: First starter for Faucheux; work well; pulls rail; positive.

9: Daisies de Oro: Another first starter in here that was bred to win early: to work well.

race 4

1: Hey Hei Custivity: Come back inside today; has the right running style to pounce late.

2: Wupkar: take the last at face value; is in good shape; will take a beating today.

race 5

7: Arden’s Attack: First starter here for Cox; well educated; Cox is tough with these guys.

5: Urban Power: Has an angry shot here; should like the lawn; ran better than it looked on the debut.

IF OFF THE LAWN: 7:3

race 6

10: Dorgenois: Claimed last and comes back in higher class; a sign of positive intention here.

6: For Harper: Was second to last in a tougher group on the rise; fits for a shot underneath.

race 7

9: First mission: Ran very well right away; This one will be hard to beat at short odds.

11: neighbor: Did a nice run taking two corners first: should show a big improvement today.

race 8

8: widow chief: Two for two on this grass course: has been refreshed; ready to run.

7: Only could: The old warrior has won almost a million: loves this grass pitch from Fair Grounds.

IF OFF THE LAWN: 9-3

race 9

5: Lilascalman: Looking for a prize in the last and this one won and placed on the level.

2: Big Bella Brown: Appears again and again and his race is on: moves to a new barn for it.

Around the track

Just a few more days of racing before the meet is over, but not before a great day of racing next Saturday with the Louisiana Derby and the Fair Grounds Oaks. Coach Brad Cox has a strong hand, winning all three Louisiana Derby prep races with three different horses. Jaces Road, Instant Coffee and Angel of Empire won the Gun Runner, Lecomte and Risen Star so it will be interesting to see who makes it to the starting gate. Trainer Tom Amoss reports that everything is going well for his filly, Hoosier Philly, who is likely to come off as a heavy favorite to win the Oaks.

best bid

Our best bet today will be in race 9 – Lilrascalman who should get a good price for a horse that has done well at this meeting at this level.

Good luck and may you all get home safe.
