Baton Rouge, Louisiana, police arrested a man scheduled for questioning in the death of Nathan Millard, who was found dead in a rolled-up rug more than a week after he disappeared while on a business trip.

Derrick Perkins, 45, was arrested Monday night and taken to East Baton Rouge Parish Jail. He faces charges of violating his probation terms, damaging property, cheating access devices and using a motor vehicle without authorization, the Baton Rouge Police Department said in a Facebook post.
Perkins was also wanted by police investigating Millard’s death.
Police documents say Perkins allegedly used Millard’s debit card in two locations, Baton Rouge’s NBC affiliate WVLA reported. Investigators said there was security video showing Perkins using the cards.
Authorities did not immediately return a request for comment on Wednesday.
Millard, 42, of Covington, Georgia, disappeared on February 23 after exiting a Baton Rouge pub. His body was found March 6 on the Scenic Highway. Sergeant L’Jean McKneely told WVLA that his body was wrapped in plastic and rolled in a rug.
Baton Rouge captain Kevin Hines told reporters at a news conference last week that police don’t believe it was a matter of foul play.
Police and Texas EquuSearch, an organization that helps find missing people, said Millard took a customer to a Louisiana State University basketball game and then to Happy’s Irish Pub before leaving around 11:30 p.m. Security footage from businesses in the area showed Millard going to a greyhound station, where a security guard offered to either call an Uber or contact the police.
Hines said Millard “doesn’t appear to be in distress” and the guard thought “he was out of place”. Millard declined support and went alone, Hines said at a news conference last week.
The last time Millard was seen on security video was around 4:30 a.m. on February 23. Hines didn’t say if Millard was dating anyone or where he was last seen, but told reporters that investigators don’t believe Millard died where his body was found.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office said there was no evidence of internal or external trauma. A spokesman said Wednesday the cause and manner of death will be released once the autopsy is complete.
