Aubra Gantt becomes first Chancellor of SUSLA | Condition

SHREVEPORT, La. – The search is over and there is a new chancellor at SUSLA.

“For me, things have come full circle,” said the new Chancellor, Aubra Gantt. “Southern University at Shreveport is where I laid my foundation. It has enabled me to hold multiple leadership positions across the country. I am very grateful for the education I received at Southern University at Shreveport.”

Gantt received a warm homecoming after the board unanimously approved her appointment. KTBS-3 News was there for their first interview.

Not only is she a SUSLA graduate, Gantt attended Green Oaks High School. She currently works as a Clinician at various hospitals in Phoenix, Arizona.

Gantt has 25 years of experience in post-secondary education. Throughout her career, she has held positions in state government, enrollment management, and academic and student affairs.

“Southern University at Shreveport does a great job when it comes to community service,” said Gantt. “My goal is to focus on enrollments. We want to make sure Shreveport citizens are aware of the academic programs we offer, and we definitely want to focus on enrollment. Enroll more students at our institution. Our goal is to work with companies and industry to offer our students great opportunities in the world of work.”

To become chancellor, says Gantt, was a lifelong dream. She tells young girls, as the first chancellor of SUSLA, never to stop.
