Fukui – A reactor at Kansai Electric Power Co.’s Takahama Nuclear Power Plant in Fukui prefecture was automatically shut down Monday after an alarm went off warning of a rapid decrease in the number of neutrons in the unit, the complex’s regulator and operator said.
Reactor No. 4 was shut down at 3:21 p.m., the Osaka-based utility said, adding that there is no evidence the incident has polluted the environment. The cooling function of the reactor is normal according to the Nuclear Regulation Authority.
