Galveston, Texas (KTRK) – Galveston Police Chief Doug Paley is on administrative leave for 10 days as the city investigates a search by special forces who destroyed the wrong home of the wrong suspect.

The city issued a statement saying this was related to the execution of search and arrest warrants at the Galveston home on or near 53rd Street on January 22.

He told a homeowner that ABC13 officers caused $5,000 in damages when they broke into her home looking for a murder suspect who had visited her home earlier, but did not live there.

According to the Galveston Daily News, charges were later dropped against this suspect because a witness misidentified him.
