New Delhi, Agency. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not hold summit talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin this year. He will do this in view of the Ukraine War and Putin’s threat of using nuclear weapons in it. America’s Bloomberg News has said this by quoting sources. By the way, Modi and Putin have met informally during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting in Uzbekistan in September. The two leaders have also spoken on the telephone several times in 2022 on the Ukraine war and other issues.
India became a big buyer
During the Ukraine war, India has emerged as the second largest buyer of Russian oil after China. India has not even condemned the Russian attack on Ukraine. India is walking on this issue by maintaining sufficient distance. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs and the Russian Embassy in New Delhi did not respond to queries regarding the Modi-Putin summit.
PM Modi’s Russia tour schedule not announced
Bloomberg News has quoted a Russian official as saying that India had informed about the impossibility of Modi-Putin talks this year in Uzbekistan itself during the SCO summit. It may be noted that President Putin had come to New Delhi in December 2021 to participate in the 21st Annual Summit of the two countries. It is Modi’s turn to visit Russia in 2022, but so far no program has been announced by the Government of India for the Prime Minister’s visit to Russia.
