After successfully launching affordable flagships in the first few years of its existence, OnePlus has expanded into the mid-range smartphone space with the launch of the Nord lineup. After the success of the original OnePlus Nord, OnePlus has steadily expanded its portfolio to include budget phones, wireless earbuds, accessories, smartwatches, and even smart TVs. But the company doesn’t seem to be finished yet.

OnePlus recently announced plans to bring its first monitor to market. Now, it has teamed up with mechanical keyboard maker Keychron to release the first “fully customizable” mechanical keyboard. Currently, OnePlus hasn’t shared many details about the keyboard, but a post on its community forums indicates that it will have a durable build with a soft-touch finish and offer customization options, such as different keys and keycaps.

OnePlus plans to share more details about its mechanical keyboard on December 15th, and we can’t wait to see what the company has in store for us. However, since OnePlus has confirmed that it’s working with Keychron to develop its own keyboard, we wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up being a rebranded Keychron keyboard with a few changes.

Additionally, although OnePlus claims the keyboard will be “fully customizable,” that’s highly unlikely. The company can give users the option to choose their preferred switches and keycaps. But we don’t see them offering multiple options for case, mounting plate, fasteners, etc. as that would drive up costs significantly. The fact that Keychron does not provide these customizations strengthens our belief. However, we will have to wait until next week to find out for sure. OnePlus will also release its first display next week, so stay tuned for our coverage to find out all about it.
