NHL Best Bets Today (Streaking Maple Leafs Return vs. Rangers)

Gambler gives, Gambler takes away.

After a 3-0 sweep on Tuesday night, Gamblor the Gambling God got revenge last night, going 0-3 for the reverse sweep, reversing their winning streak.

That’s a gamble for you.

The only thing we can do now is to jump back on the horse and move on. Fortunately, we have a lot more games to choose from than last night, 12 games are scheduled.

Let’s dive into the top three NHL bets on Thursday night. You can find the best odds available for each game on the list, as well as the best betting deals available from each sportsbook here.

NHL Best Bets – Record to date

NHL Best Bets Today (Thursday, December 15)

  • Maple Leafs -120 vs. Rangers
  • Stars/capitals over 6 (-110)
  • Black Hawks +175 vs. Golden Knights

Maple Leafs -120 vs. Rangers

I’ve been trying to bet against the Maple Leafs lately because some recent advanced analytics, like CORSI%, haven’t looked good. But, it’s time for me to stop falling for it. They may not score many shots, but they make the most of their opportunities. They are second in the NHL in shooting percentage (13.65%) and first in the league in save percentage (. 951) over their last 10 games. This really will win you a lot of games.

Matt Murray starting for the Leafs tonight has been on fire since returning from injury, hitting a . 926 save percentage in his first 10 starts. Now, he and the Papers will take on the Rangers, who are 29th in goals expected over their last 10 games.

I’ll ride with Toronto on this one.

Stars/capitals over 6 (-110)

There is no need to think about this. The Capitals and Stars are second and third in goals expected over the last 10 games, and both are playing some of the best offensive hockey they’ve played this season. They have an average total goals per game of 6.63 over this run.

Dallas was also one of the best shooting teams in the league this season, finishing fourth in shooting percentage. I expect humiliation in this inter-conference game.

Black Hawks +175 vs. Golden Knights

I know it sounds crazy, but hear me out. I think now is the right time to dodge what appears to be a declining team of Golden Knights. They’ve been 5-5 in their last 10 games and rank near the bottom of the NHL in a few key areas over this stretch.

They are 29th in CORSI%, 26th in expected goals, and 26th in shooting percentage.

To be fair, the Blackhawks don’t rank higher than them in any of those areas, but they’re not far off. I think this is a good time to take a shot at the +175 home underdog.
