Via Fresca in Albany is closing after nearly 17 years

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) — Via Fresca, a gourmet Italian market at 1666 Western Avenue in Albany, is closing its doors permanently after nearly 17 years. Owner John Randazzo announced this in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

“To all of our friends and family, as we all know, the economy has been pretty tough for both individuals and small businesses,” Randazzo said. “We’ve been dealing with our rising food costs, gas increases, surcharges and the like for so long now.”

Via Fresca’s last day will be Wednesday 23 November. This December would have marked the restaurant’s 17th year in business, Randazzo said.

“We’ve been very fortunate to have friends and a loyal customer base that has stuck with us through thick and thin for years,” Randazzo said.
