SIX people were killed and 20 others injured across Chicago over the weekend as shootings broke out in the windswept city.
A total of 27 people were shot in 26 separate shootings between 6 p.m. Friday and midnight Sunday, according to UKTN 7 Chicago.
Among the six people who succumbed to their gunshot wounds were 24-year-old Nicolas Williams, who attempted to rob the El Barakah supermarket, and 63-year-old Ali Hassan, a store clerk who had a concealed carry permit.
The two men got into a fight around 6:30 p.m. Friday. leaving Williams pronounced dead at the scene and Hassan dying after being hospitalized.
Then, at 9 p.m. Saturday night, a man believed to be in his 40s was shot dead in Chicago Lawn. He was transported to Holy Cross Hospital and died shortly afterwards.
A third man was shot dead around 2:40 a.m. Sunday morning in Chicago’s Near West Side. Police arrived at the scene after hearing gunshots, where they saw a suspect shoot at a man and drove away. The victim was later pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital.
A fourth man, age 29, was also shot dead at about 4:15 p.m. in Archer Heights on the city’s southwest side. He was later pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Then, around 6 p.m., another man was fatally shot in the leg and face in a West Side drive-by. The unknown man succumbed to his injuries in Strijd hospital. and his age is unknown.
In the latest of the deadly shootings, a 49-year-old tow truck driver was fatally shot on the Near West Side. He was shot down as he was caught in crossfire while driving around 10:45 p.m
As for those injured, a 19-year-old man was shot in the leg and hip, while a 22-year-old man was scraped in the hip around 2:10 a.m. Saturday morning as they stood in South’s 2300 block. Damen Avenue.
Then, on Sunday morning, a 12-year-old girl was shot in the neck while walking in Calumet Heights. She was transported to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition.
Two other young teenagers were among the injured.
A 17-year-old boy was hit by gunfire in the groin, but escaped.
Meanwhile, a 15-year-old boy was shot in the right leg on Sunday evening on the Zuidkant. He was also admitted in good condition after being taken to hospital.
It comes as another horror wave of gun violence swept across US cities last weekend and a 12-year-old boy was fatally shot in Aurora, Colorado.

In New York City, a 42-year-old man was killed and two other people were hospitalized after being shot in Chelsea.
Police in Omaha, Nebraska, are searching for a suspect who left one dead and seven others injured in a Sunday morning shooting.
A shooting at a high school game in Florida has left one person dead and spectators fleeing after an altercation broke out in a parking lot.
A birthday party also turned bloody on the Southwest Side after a verbal altercation between members of two warring gangs.
A 51-year-old man was shot in the arm, a 34-year-old man was also shot in the arm, and a 52-year-old was shot in the arm and hip.
At around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, a suburban police officer was shot on Chicago’s south side as he drove to work.
In Boston, six people were gunned down in less than an hour on Sunday night at three different locations in the city.
Police said the “terrible night” had resulted in one fatality after the Orlando Street, Westview Street and Rosa Street incidents.
Two injured men were found on Orlando Street around 9:10 p.m. and rushed to local hospitals, where one was pronounced dead.
Shortly afterwards, officers were called to Westview Street, where they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds and life-threatening injuries.
Officers then responded to Rosa Street in the Hyde Park neighborhood where they found another man shot.
He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Two others subsequently admitted themselves to a local hospital with gunshot wounds and police believe they are linked to the third shooting.
