Hit Israeli teen drama ‘The Hood’ gets Indian adaptation from Abudantia Entertainment (EXCLUSIVE)


Tel Aviv-based Anani Studios, part of Paramount Global, has signed a deal with Indian content producer Abudantia Entertainment to develop an Indian remake of the hit Israeli live-action teen drama, “The Hood” (“Shuna”).

The original series, created by Giora Chamizer (Netflix’s “Greenhouse Academy”), is set in The Hood, a dirty cluster of low-income housing where blue-collar families live in the middle of one of the wealthiest districts. is located in. “The Hood” adaptation will be produced under Abudantia’s youth-adult focused label Filter, which joins Psych who specializes in horror and the paranormal. An Indian adaptation of the Israeli youth-adult drama “The Missing” and Apeksha Rao’s young-adult book “Along Came a Spider” is also being adapted under the Filter label.

Although a platform hasn’t been disclosed yet, Abundantia’s series typically lands on Amazon Prime Video, including “Breathe” (2018), “Breathe: Into the Shadows” (2020) and “Hush Hush” and “Hush Hush”. Upcoming titles like “The End.” which mark the streaming debuts of Bollywood stars Juhi Chawla and Akshay Kumar respectively. Abudantia’s recent movies “Jalsa” (2022) and “Lioness” (2021) both debuted directly on Amazon.

Adaptations of Vish Dhamija’s novels “Bhindi Bazaar,” “Doosra” and “Lipstick”, featuring female constable Rita Ferreira, are also in the works in Abudantia.
