Hannes Hammer returns to Virginia Tech after a summer in Germany & More Breaking News

Roanoke (VA) North Cross three-star offensive tackle Hannes Hammer arrived back in America from his summer in Germany on Thursday.

On Friday, the Virginia Tech commit was back in Blacksburg for Hokie Fest.

“It was great,” Hammer said. “The connections just keep building better.”

During the visit, Hammer was able to take some photos, eat dinner, play some games with the other commits and take in some meetings.

“It was very family oriented,” he said.

“They coaches were great,” he added. “It was great seeing them all again before we all go focus on our season.”

The 6-foot 6.5-inch, 275-pound offensive lineman committed to Virginia Tech in May before departing the country for the summer. Hammer is a native of Germany and spent the summer at home with his family.

“It was great,” he said about his summer back home. “Kept griding but unfortunately, I got sick and lost some weight, but I will get that back in a second.

“I’m really excited to get back to football again.”

Hammer is considered the No. 21 overall prospect in Virginia for the 2023 recruiting class and the No. 75 offensive tackle prospect in the nation.
