Abductors make huge demand for 6 kidnapped Nigerian female footballers in Delta

Abductors of the six female grassroots footballers kidnapped at Oronigbe community in Edo state, a boundary between Delta and Edo states have asked for N5 million each for the victims.

The female footballers were kidnapped around 6pm on Friday while returning from football match competition at Owa-Alero in Ika North-East local government area of Delta state.

A source in the community said contact had been established with family members as kidnappers demanded N5 million as ransom for each of the kidnapped victims.

According to him, “They went to Owa-Alero to play football match. So, on their way back, they were kidnapped at Oronigbe area, the boundary between Delta and Edo states. 

“Some of the victims are Mrs Precious Agbajor, that is my wife, one Abraham, Nancy, Beatrice and the driver. They are six in number that are in the kidnappers’ den. The matter has been reported to Oronigbe police station.

“The kidnappers have contacted us, and asked me to pay N5 million for my wife. In fact, I’m confused as I speak to you now,” husband to one of the victims said.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in Delta state, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, adding that efforts were on to track the victims and to  ensure their freedom.
