Three men were arrested following a high-speed chase by the Lyttelton police on Friday.

According to police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller, the suspects were spotted in a car infamously known for theft in the area.

Miller said the suspects noticed that the police were onto them and drove off at high speed.

The officers called for backup and a high-speed chase ensued.

“The officers and private security companies eventually cornered and stopped the suspects,” he said.

“Once the scene was secured and the suspects were tactically restrained, it was discovered that they were in possession of signal jamming devices and equipment used to steal motor vehicles.”

Miller added that the suspects drove with no regard for other road users and often faced oncoming traffic.

He said the three will face charges relating to possession of car-breaking implements and unlawful signal jamming devices.

“We are currently investigating the possibility of the three being linked to other crimes in Centurion,” said Miller.

“We would like to thank all the members who were involved in the operation and members of the private security sector for assisting with apprehending the suspects.”

Miller added that the three are expected to appear before the Pretoria Magistrate’s court soon.
