Gentari is the new firm created by the oil company to push the production of carbon-free energy and expand its portfolio of renewables.

Petronas has announced the establishment of a new clean energy solutions company by the name of Gentari. The new venture will help the state-owned company to produce carbon-free energy and expand its portfolio in renewables.

As reported by the Reuters news agency, the new firm will help in delivering renewable energy, hydrogen and green mobility solutions. Its long-term objective will be to become a “full suite net zero solutions provider”, according to an official press release published by Gentari.

The company stated that its existing assets and projects include more than 1 gigawatt-peak (GWp) of solar capacity in India and Malaysia, a pipeline of clean hydrogen projects, as well as more than 220 EVs. Its first clean hydrogen project is due to come onstream in 2025, which is being developed in Malaysia and other markets.

Gentari aims to build a renewable energy capacity of 30-40 gigawatt and supply up to 1.2 million tonnes per annum of hydrogen by 2030. In addition, it’s set to capture a 10% share of the EV ecosystem across key markets in the Asia Pacific region such as Malaysia and India.
