A 42-year-old pedestrian was badly injured after he was struck by a car in Olievenhoutbosch on Thursday.

The man was struck by a Volkswagen Polo at about 19:10 on the R55 road and Drakensburg intersection, said ER24 spokesperson Ross Campbell.

Campbell said the man was found lying on the side of the road behind the vehicle.

He said the man sustained bone fractures and advanced life support systems were needed to stabilise him.

“He was then transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.

“The driver and passenger in the vehicle were not injured,” he added.
